David Olusoga
Black and British

A landmark series on BBC2 Black and British is a timely reminder from British Nigerian historian David Olusoga that Black people have always been part of the British story. There were African soldiers on Hadrian’s Wall and black Britons fought at Trafalgar and in the trenches of the First Word War. Blending historical analysis and personal experience he will talk with fellow historian David Reynolds about the blind spots in our perspectives on Britain’s past and present.

David Olusoga is short-listed for the  PEN Hessell-Tiltman Prize and was short-listed for the Jhalak Prize for Book of the Year by a Writer of Colour. The winner of the Hessell-Tiltman Prize will be announced on Sunday 09 July at Wimpole History Festival. See the full short-list here.
